Tomatis® Listening Therapy at Thriving Minds Learning Center

At Thriving Minds Learning Center, we are always seeking evidence-based, innovative ways to support the whole child—academically, emotionally, and neurologically. We are proud to now offer Tomatis® Listening Therapy, a globally recognized auditory stimulation program designed to support brain development, learning, communication, and emotional regulation.

Our Tomatis services are provided by a Level 2 Certified Tomatis Practitioner, allowing for individualized programming and ongoing adjustments based on each learner’s needs.

What Is the Tomatis® Method?

The Tomatis® Method is a neuroscience-based listening therapy that uses specially processed music and vocal frequencies to stimulate the brain through the ears. Developed by Dr. Alfred Tomatis, an ear, nose, and throat physician, this method is founded on the principle that how we listen affects how we learn, communicate, move, and regulate ourselves.

Using advanced technology, Tomatis programs gently train the auditory system to process sound more efficiently. This, in turn, supports improved brain organization, attention, language processing, and emotional balance.

How Does Tomatis® Work?

Tomatis Listening Therapy works by engaging the brain through bone and air conduction, activating multiple neural pathways at once. The program uses:

  • Specially filtered classical music and vocal sounds

  • Alternating frequencies to stimulate auditory muscles

  • Gradual progression through listening “phases”

  • Personalized adjustments based on client response

This process supports the brain’s ability to process sound accurately and efficiently, which is foundational for learning, communication, and self-regulation.

Who Can Benefit from Tomatis® Listening Therapy?

Tomatis can support children, teens, and adults who experience challenges in learning, attention, sensory processing, or emotional regulation. It is often beneficial for individuals who struggle with:

  • Reading, spelling, and language processing

  • Attention, focus, and working memory

  • Auditory processing difficulties

  • Sensory sensitivities

  • Emotional regulation and stress

  • Social communication

  • Motor coordination and balance

  • Fatigue or low motivation

At Thriving Minds, Tomatis is frequently used as a complement to academic intervention, helping students become more neurologically ready to benefit from instruction.

How Tomatis® Supports Learning at Thriving Minds

Because learning begins in the brain, Tomatis fits naturally within our Orton-Gillingham-based, individualized approach. By strengthening auditory processing and regulation, many students show improvements in:

  • Sustained attention during sessions

  • Reading fluency and comprehension

  • Listening stamina

  • Confidence and emotional resilience

  • Readiness for instruction

Tomatis does not replace tutoring or therapy—it enhances the brain’s ability to access and integrate learning.
